Mrs Simkins’ Cheesey Crumpets

Cheese & Chilli Crumpet 2

When it’s cold and wintry outside, there is nothing like snuggling up in the warm with a pot of tea and a plate of hot buttered crumpets. Although strawberry jam has to be the undisputed top topper for crumpets, it’s good to have some savoury options and a full flavoured Cheddar cheese is wonderful, particularly if it is melting or oozing in some way.

Try these 2 cheesy choices to serve with a pot of your favourite Clipper brew.

Fruit infusions to flirt with…

IMG_0267We strive to always bring our Clipper drinkers the best blends and flavour combinations, packaged in the most beautiful designs.  Sometimes, however, we need help.  And who better to ask than our drinkers!!  So we did…

When we spoke to you, many of you were buying infusions from various brands as you wanted to experiment with different flavours.  However, when you didn’t like one of them you were stuck with it!  You wouldn’t drink it because you didn’t like it, but you didn’t want to throw it away as it was such a waste of money – sometimes up to £4!  So it sat in your cupboard, nearly 20 teabags, untouched for months – go on, check your cupboard, we bet you find an unloved tea in there! Clipper and the Fairtrade Tea Tale

DSC04502
As pioneers of Fairtrade tea, at Clipper we were delighted to see Simon Reeve’s sensitively handled BBC2 documentary on ‘The Tea Trail’ and his summary call to action to the UK tea drinking public to pay a little more for your tea.

In response. Jane Snell, Product Manager for tea at the Fairtrade Foundation set the challenge that “as tea drinkers we must also realise that every single one of those cuppas represents a powerful choice for change, if we choose it.”

Simon Reeve gave specific exposure to the smallholder tea growers and producers, beautifully showcasing the love, care and attention which go into the tea growing and the pride which goes into the production. At Clipper we believe that by paying slightly more for Fairtrade, tea drinkers are also getting a better quality, better tasting cup. So in real terms are we paying more or getting much more for our money?
