Seven Ways in which #ChangeTastesGood

Routines can be comfortable and efficient, but occasionally breaking out of them and trying something new can be good for the soul. We’ve pulled together a list of seven easy ways to make the everyday a little more special! Let us know about positive changes you’ve made in the comments below, or by using the hashtag #ChangeTastesGood, and we’ll pick our top twenty to receive some Divine chocolate goodies!

Dabble

Ever tried dragonfruit, nettle tea, or those chocolate hot-cross buns? Now is the time to try a little something new! Set yourself a modest budget and have a poke around your local store; maybe you’ll ask yourself how you ever lived before tasting chilli and lime popcorn!

Swap

If you’re getting a bit bored of your work-out mix, try swapping iPods with your gym buddy – remembering to keep hold of your own headphones, of course! You could discover a penchant for sweating along to Kanye or a passion for jogging with Duran Duran; worst case scenario you’ll remember why you chose the Spice Girls to begin with!

Pledge

Donating time is much more personal than giving money, and helping out others while getting out of the house is a great way to break up a boring routine. You could pledge to run a 5k race for charity, offer your time to a local food-bank, or even promise to do some gardening for an elderly neighbour.

Create

Maybe you weren’t a budding Picasso back at school, but that’s no reason to not get a little creative! Splash out on some felt tips, sew on some brightly coloured buttons to your black coat, or start a scrapbook – the end-result needn’t be perfect, if you enjoyed the process!

Wander

Unless you’ve lived in the same neighbourhood your entire life, there are probably local roads you’ve never wandered down, and architectural gems you’ve never witnessed. Going for a walk with no fixed route or destination is one of the best ways to spend a Sunday afternoon, so keep your eyes open and you never know what you’ll discover!

Switch

With the weather going from dazzling sunshine to monsoon over the course of a weekend, now is the perfect time to try a new DVD boxset! No need to shell out, simply ask around to see what’s out there in your work and social circles; maybe now is the time to give the Gilmore Girls a bash or see if you can manage watching The Wire sans subtitles!

Capture

There are lots of photography challenges out there at the moment, so why not give one a try?! With a different topic or subject each day, which you can ignore or be inspired by at your leisure, all you need is a bit of imagination, and possibly Instagram!

I have taken some time off work recently, it’s great to have the time to discover new things. Last week I spent an hour grinding toasted spices to make a curry from scratch, so worth the effort. Then just today I went for an aimless wander around my local area and found a little cafe to stop off for brunch, it was simple but very tasty and locally sourced. Definitely put a smile on my face!

Instead of sitting back and feeling upset by all the sad stories I see about animals being mistreated I have decided to get up and do my bit to help out. I have now become a dog fosterer. I currently have a very timid poor little sprocker who was unwanted and is so scared of doing anything wrong that I constantly find her hiding under my dining room table. She is now happy to come to us for a stroke and cuddle but daren’t bark or eat until she is reassued that it’s okay to do so. She constantly follows me around and I catch her watching me with her sad big brown eyes, which melts my heart and makes me more determined than ever that I will help her find her confidence and see her one day happily playing carefree like other dogs do.

Now that the sun is out, I am pledging to have my lunch outdoors more often now rather than in the lunchroom! It is a breath of fresh air and it really reinvigorates me to be more happy and creative at work.

I’ve decided that one day a week instead of doing the usual housework I get out my sewing machine and teach myself to sew. I made a bag for the first time today with no pattern :)

I like drinking mountain tea that I brought back from Greece last year. You have it hot in winter and cold in summer just like the Greeks and you do so see some really old dears out there so it has to be good for something.
